Faith
I. Change the environment to change behavior.
The environment has a powerful influence on subsequent behavior.
Many of our responses are automatic e.g. we take notes in class without thinking about how to write.
Eventually the frequency of this behavior may depend on consequences, but at any one moment it is primarily the stimuli in the environment that control our behavior.

In changing environment change behavior method, two basic techniques for self-control are used.
i. Avoiding situations that lead to unwanted behavior.
ii. Providing stimuli that prompt desired behavior.

II. Learn new behavior,(using models, self-instruction), self- evaluation may result in our feeling a need to change. One way to change our behavior is to learn some new and better way to respond in the old situation.

III. Using controlling or conditioned response
Some of our actions are easily to control and, indeed some desired response is conditioned to occur automatically. For instance, if we brush our teeth after every meal or buckle our seat belts every time we get in a car, it becomes automatic.

IV. Relapse prevention
One of the hardest parts of self-control is stopping some unwanted, but compelling behavior.
