When talking it is often the small things that make a good point great or worse. The body language and body gestures are very important when talking. You should use them to emphasize your point and make more sense by reaching out to the human aspect of your audience. You could be saying one thing but your body language saying the complete opposite. This will undercut your speech and create doubt in the minds of the audience. You will lose touch of the people who you want to talk to.

The first impression which you should give when coming out to people is the feeling of warmth. This feeling can be created by smiling. Nothing is warmer than a smile. You give people the impression that you are a friendly person and worth listening to. If you are nervous and uncomfortable, hide it all with a smile and you are more likely to exude confidence. This will create a good impression about you.

When you want to get someone’s attention it is important that you maintain eye contact. They say the eye is the way to someone’s soul. Don’t make it feel weird by maintaining eye contact for a very long period of time because it could make the other person feel uncomfortable. You should therefore maintain eye contact for 70% of the time you are talking. If you are shy this quality may not come sub consciously so you have to do this consciously. Force yourself to look the person in the eyes. With time it will come naturally.

Keep an upright posture. This will help exude confidence. When you sit with a hunch, you are damaging your back and giving yourself an unfair disadvantage to the audience. People prefer when you have an upright posture because you seem to be

more confident and there is a sense of organization to what you are about to say.

When talking gesture with open palms. This is symbolic in that you have nothing to hide. You are open and sharing everything without discrimination. This will make the audience trust you more when you talk. Open palms are know when extending a helping hand so it shows that you have the best interest of the people at heart.

The most important thing to know when talking to an audience is that you should be genuine in your speech. You should show your emotions because you are human and you are talking to humans. People will easily capture a fake gesture that is not genuine. You will be considered a cunning character who is out trick them.
