Passwords are used to keep our data safe from unauthorized users and are meant to therefore safeguard our work, but what happens when you cannot recall your own password? Do you start a whole other account? Or do you get out of your way to recover your password? Well, I am all for the latter, because there are several ways to recover your password if need be.

What I am going to share with you, however, is not about how to recover your password from any software, but from specifically Microsoft Excel. So how do you recover your Excel password?

First of all, you could get a password recovery tool, which can help you crack your password wide open. Such a tool is Free Word and Excel Password Recovery Wizard. This is one of the best tools to use to recover your password. If your objective is to recover your actual password, then this is the tool to use. The tool only recovers open passwords and it will not unlock, remove or crack a password that has Word edit restriction. It has settings that can enable you to recover your password in a matter of seconds, given that you can recall the exact number of characters your password contains. Still, if you do not know the exact number of characters that your password contains then this tool will take a much longer time to recover your password. You should note, however, that the upper limit of characters this tool can recover is 8.

Another option you could use to recover your Excel password, is to download the Office Password Recovery Utility. Once downloaded install the software with the default settings and then get started.
Click open and find look for the spreadsheet file that is protected. This opens the Recovery Wizard which gives

you the option of either displaying the password or completely removing it. If you choose the former option, then choose "Recover the Password to Open". After which, you will be required to answer some questions which will assist in determining the outline of the password you want to recover. This is to narrow down the tool's search for potential matches. You should note that they are not needed as such, but it will make the program work faster. If in the even you do not have an idea, you could leave all default options and proceed to the next steps and click on finish.
This program then uses inbuilt tools and its many unique password combinations in an attempt to recover the password. Once done, you are notified of the results and you can now easily open your document with ease. This tool has another trick up its sleeve though. It also recovers passwords on single sheets that are within the Excel workbook whose password was being reclaim. Thus, granting you access to the whole workbook.

If the latter option (removing the password) is what you want to use, then Office Password Recovery Utility securely sends a message to Password Solutions' server to find out the type of encryption used to protect the file you intend to crack. It then decides on the most suitable method of decryption that can be used to completely remove the password from the Excel workbook. When the tool is done decrypting, you will be prompted to select where you would like to store the unlocked version of the Excel workbook. That is all there is to it.

The only downside to this method, is the fact that once the password has been stripped from the file, it will no longer be protected in future and therefore if you require it to be protected you will need to set up another password.

These are just some of the ways you could use to recover your Excel password and are the easiest you could ever come across. If you ever need to reclaim your forgotten password then think of these options.
