Q1. (i) Discuss the fundamental principles that guide the ethics of an engineer as
outlined in the Code of Ethics for Engineers. In connection with this, state
the professional obligations of an Engineer as required by the Code of
Ethics. [10 marks]
(ii) Give a time line highlighting major milestones in the development of
water supply administration in Kenya. [10 marks]

Q2. (i) In water Engineering Practice conflicts arise while managing contracts. It
conflicts are not avoided or well managed then contractual disputes arise.
With the aid of a diagram discuss the distinction between conflict
management and dispute resolution in engineering contracts.
(ii) Hence give four techniques of conflict management and dispute
resolution. [10 marks]

Q3. Water supply administration in Kenya is carried out under the Water Act 2002.
With the help of a diagram describe the institutional framework provided under
the Act giving roles of each institution. [20 marks]
Q4. Kenya is classified as a chronically water scarce country. Discuss the rationale
behind this. Hence or otherwise give an overview of the water resources of
Kenya. [20 marks]

Q5. (i) Offer and acceptance are fundamental parts of a contract. Discuss.
[10 marks]
(ii) Define a Tort and show that a show that a tort does not amount to a breach
of contract. [10 marks]
