Admission Requirements:-

Candidates wishing to study for the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing shall have met the minimum University entry requirements as stipulated in the Egerton University Statutes.

In addition they should meet the following Faculty requirements;
i). Alternative A
a) Biology C+ (Plus)
b) Chemistry C+ (Plus)
c) Mathematics or Physics C+ (Plus)
d) English or Kiswahili C+ (Plus)

iii) Alternative B
a) A minimum of two principal passes in Biology and Chemistry and
b) Subsidiary passes in either Mathematics or Physics.

iii). Alternative C (for In-service students only)

a) Must have a minimum grade of C or Division III for KCSE Examination or I Principal and Subsidiary for A Level Examination.
b) Should be holders of the following:
a. Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery/Public Health Diploma. (KRN/M/PH) OR
b. Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery Diploma. (KRN/M/) OR
c. Kenya Registered Nursing Diploma (KRN) OR
d. Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing Diploma (KRCHN) OR
e. Equivalent qualifications assessed by the Faculty and approved by the Senate and Nursing council of Kenya.
f. Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya or other institutions recognized by the Nursing Council of Kenya
Entry requirements
(i) A mean grade of C(plain) at KCSE or Division III at KCE and their equivalent. OR

(ii) A diploma from a recognized institution in any of the following health professions

(iii) Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN)

(iv) Kenya Registered Nurse and Midwifery (KRN/KRM)

(v) Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse

(vi) License by the Nursing Council of Kenya or an equivalent accrediting body.

(vii) Two years working experience in the respective health science profession

Mode of study
(i) This is a part time programme for two days in a week; Thursday and Friday evening classes.
(ii) Evening classes may be arranged for Sunday.
(iii) A full-time programme is offered at the main campus, Baraton.

Duration
(i) Part-time programme: 3 1/2 years
(ii) Full-time programme at the main campus can take 2 1/2 years


Tuition fees
Ksh.Kshs. 4,500 per credit hour

Entry requirements
(i) A minimum mean grade of C+(plus) or its equivalent.

(ii) The entrance requirement for the preferred area of study as set by the respective department.

(iii) Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (A-Level) with a minimum of 2(two) principals and 2(two) subsidiary passes.

(iv) Diploma holders from recognized institutions are accepted.
Admission requirements.
(a) Mean Grade C at KCSE or equivalent with a Diploma in Nursing or Division II at KCE/EACE with a Diploma in Nursing. OR

(b) KACE or equivalent one Principal pass and two Subsidiaries at KACE with a Diploma in Nursing.

In addition, one must have at least two years working experience after attainment of the Diploma in Nursing.
BSc. Nursing (with IT)
A four year course offering Nursing education certified by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
