Q1. Case study:
Read the following Case carefully and answer the questions provided
Limuko Company is dealing with production of breads. The Company experienced upward
remarkable growth since its inception in 1970s. The vision of the founders was to be a
leading producer of quality breads in East African region. The company started as a family
business with the original owners performing all the functions of managing the business. As
the company experienced fast growth, the owners continued to depend on the same skills and
knowledge they had started the business with. The company relied on training that was used
during the era of cottage industries to impart skills and knowledge to the employees. After 20
years of successful business the company realized significant decline in its performance and
the initial investigation revealed that the business environment had changed as a result of
competition and use of new technology by the competitors. It was also noted the quality of its
product had declined and had experienced significant employee turn-over among its
resourceful employees. It was also observed that there were increased reported cases of
accidents due to negligence in work place.
You have been appointed as a consultant to advice the company.
(i) Assess the development needs of Limuko Company. Indicate the types of training that
are needed and the delivery methods recommended (25 marks)
(ii) Outline some of the training evaluation methods you are going to recommend.

Q3. You are pursuing your Ph.D in Human Resource management. Explain fully what your
Organization would expect from you as the Key person in Human Resource management
(20 marks)

Q4. Identify and discuss various modern performance appraisal techniques and show the
merits and demerits associated with each. How can you as an expert in Employee
utilization tackle each of the demerits you have identified. (20 marks)

Q5. Failure of the Organization has highly attributed to poor management of employees.
Bring in light all what you can do as an expert in Human Resource Management to
ensure maximum utilization of Employees to give your Organization a competitive edge
in the current competitive market. (20 marks)
