• Write the name and version of the software used for each question attempted in the answer sheet.
• Answer all the questions
• All questions carry equal marks
• Passwords should not be used while saving in the diskette
• All answers must be saved in your diskette
• Make a printout of the answers on the answer sheets provided.
• Arrange your printouts and tie/staple them together
• Hand in all the printouts and the diskette

(a) Create a workbook to store the information and save it as FEES REGISTER (8 marks)

(b) Use formulae to compute: (2 marks)

i. The fees balance for each student.
ii. The total
• AMOUNT PAYABLE
• FEES PAID
• FEES BALANCE (3 marks)
(c) Use the If function to declare the following remarks about a student: (9 marks)


• “Proceed” if the fees balance is less than or equal to ¼ of the amount payable
• “Use Principal” if the fees balance is more than ¼ but less than or equal to ½ of the amount payable
• “”Send home” if the fees is more than ½ of the amount payable


(d) Use a function to count the number of students who should:
i. Proceed
ii. See the Principal
iii. Be sent home (6 marks)


(e) Format the table as follows
i. Center the title and subtitle a cross the page (3 marks)
ii. Left align all address (1 mark)
iii. Format the amount payable, fees paid and balance as currency with zero decimal places. (3 marks)


(f) Apply borders to cells in the worksheet as follows:
i. Double line for outline border (1 mark)
ii. Dotted lines for vertical inside borders. (1 mark)
iii. Dashed lines for horizontal inside borders (1 mark)


(g) (i) Rename the current worksheet as MAIN. (1 mark)
(ii) Copy the entire MIAN worksheet to a blank sheet and rename the new sheet as HOME. (2 marks)
(iii) Filter the HOME worksheet so as to display the students who come from towns starting with letter “K” and have a fee balance exceeding Sh. 10,000. (5 marks)

(h) (i) Insert your name and date as a footer in each sheet. (2 marks)
(ii) Print both worksheets (2 marks)


2. Byte Computer Services is a company with numerous branches in East Africa. In order to monitor the performance of the branches and that of the cities in which the branches are located, a database to organize the information is required.
a. Create a database file and name it COMPANY. (2 marks)

b. (i) Create a table containing the following fields. (4 marks)

(iii) In the STORES table, swap the fields CITY with BRANCH. (2 marks)

e. (i) Create a query from the STORES table to display the fields BRANCH, CITY, STAFF-SIZE and SALES (SHS) for stores whose sales are less than 400,000(3 marks)

(ii) Sort the records in the query above in alphabetical order of BRANCH field and save it as POOR PERFORMERSS. (2 marks)

f. (i) Create a tabular report with landscape orientation from the STORES table to display the fields in the following order.

STORE-NO, BRANCH, SALES (SHS) (4 marks)

(ii) Sort records in the report in alphatbetical order of the BRANCH field. (1 mark)

(iii) Compute the total sales and place in below the SALES (SHS) column and change its font size to 13. (5 marks)

(iv) Place two straight lines cutting across the page, one above and one below the sales total. (2 marks)

g. (i) Insert a header BYTE COMPUTER SERVICES PERFORMANCE in the report having font size 19 and centre it across the page. (3 marks)


(ii) Remove the report pagination and insert your name and index number in its place and save the report as PERFORMANCE. (2 marks)

h. Print STORES table, POOR PERFORMERS query and PERFORMANCE report. (3 marks)
