Summary

Healing of the Paralytic

Introduction:
The story of the healing of the paralytic demonstrates the power and mercy of Jesus Christ. It
shows how faith and determination can lead to physical and spiritual healing. This miracle
reveals important truths about Jesus’ authority to forgive sins and his compassion for those who
suffer. It is a powerful lesson for learners on faith, teamwork, persistence, and the nature of true
healing.

The Story of the Healing (Luke 5:17–26)
? Jesus Christ was teaching in a house filled with people, including Pharisees and teachers
of the Law from Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem.
? While Jesus was teaching and healing, four men brought a friend who was paralysed on a
bed.
? The crowd was too large, and they could not enter through the door.
? In a creative act of faith, they climbed onto the roof, made an opening, and lowered the
man on his bed in front of Jesus.
? Jesus saw their faith and said to the paralysed man, “Your sins are forgiven.”
? The Pharisees and teachers of the Law accused Jesus of blasphemy, saying only God can
forgive sins.
? Jesus, knowing their thoughts, challenged them: “Which is easier, to say ‘Your sins are
forgiven’ or ‘Get up and walk’?”
? To prove His authority, Jesus said to the paralysed man: “Get up, pick your bed, and go
home.”
? The man immediately stood up, took his bed, and went home praising God.
? Everyone present was amazed and praised God, saying they had seen marvellous things.
?? Key Lessons from the Miracle
? Faith in Jesus brings healing – The faith of the paralytic’s friends moved Jesus to act.
? Jesus has power to forgive sins – He is not only a healer but also our spiritual Saviour.
? We must help those who are suffering – The friends didn’t give up despite obstacles.
? Creativity and persistence are valuable – They found a way to reach Jesus despite the
crowd.
