ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have satisfied the University's general admission criteria of a mean grade C+ (plus) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E). A minimum C+ (plus) grade pass will be mandatory in each of the cluster subjects. The cluster subjects for Bachelor of Pharmacy in K.C.S.E are as follows:

Biology
Chemistry
Physics or Mathematics
English or Kiswahili

Eligibility for consideration for admission into the Module II Bachelor of Pharmacy programme shall be governed by the following admission requirements, outlined under each category:
KCSE (8.4.4 System of Education)

Applicants must have obtained an average cluster weight of B- in the subjects shown below provided that no subject in this cluster shall have a grade below C+:

-Chemistry

- Biology

- Maths/Physics

- English/Kiswahili



Alternative B

- Biological sciences

- Physical Sciences

- Mathematics

- English/Kiswahili



G.C.E/A-Level

A minimum of two Principal passes in Biology and Chemistry

And a subsidiary pass or credit pass at 'O' level in physics or Mathematics.

General paper - Pass

-International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma

C (plain) mean grade in KCSE with an average cluster weight of 32 points in relevant subjects as shown in above.

In addition, a pass of not less than 5 at IB level in each of the KCSE subjects shown above.

-Diploma in Biological Sciences

A minimum O level Division II with credit passes in the following subjects:

- Biology

- Chemistry

- Physics/Mathematics

or or

- Biology Biological Sciences
- Physics with Chemistry Physical Scien
- Mathematics Mathematics

OR

C mean grade in KCSE with an average cluster weight of 32 points in relevant subjects as shown above,

In addition, they should have a credit pass in the following qualifications from the Kenya Medical Training College or any other recognized training institution Diploma in:-

Pharmaceutical Technology
Laboratory Technology
Clinical Medicine
Radiology
Basic and/or Advanced Nursing
Public Health/Environment Health
Dental Sciences
-Holders of any degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Nairobi or equivalent qualifications from a recognised University.

-of other qualifications deemed to be equivalent to (2.1 – 2. mentioned above.

-Applicants from non-English speaking countries must sit and pass English assessment examination set and administered by institutions recognised by University of Nairobi Senate.

(d)Higher national diploma,with
diploma in pharmaceutical technology
plus C in KCSE and C in each of the
subjects below:
(i)Chemistry
(ii)Biology/biological science
(iii)English/kiswahili

Tuition fees
- Sh.128,200 per trimester

Program duration
(i)Fifteen trimesters for students
who have scored B- in KCSE and C+
in cluster subjects only.

(ii)Fifteen trimesters for students
who have scored C in KCSE and C in
cluster subjects plus a diploma in
health science.

(iii)Nine trimesters for applicants
who have scored a minimum of C in KCSE
with C in cluster subjects plus a higher
diploma in pharmaceutical technology and
a diploma in pharmaceutical technology.

(iv)Twelve trimesters for applicants who
have scored a minimum of C in KCSE with
C in cluster subjects plus a diploma
in pharmaceutical technology with a credit
pass.
Minimum requirements
-(a)A minimum of C+ in KCSE or division II at O
level plus a diploma in relevant discipline from
any reputable institution.In addition,they must have
passed in subjects in either of the alternatives below
with the grades indicated.
(b)Alternative one
(i)Maths or physics C+
(ii)Chemistry B
(iii)Biology B
(iv)English or kiswahili B

(c)Alternative two
(i)English or kiswahili B+
(ii)Maths C+
(iii)Physical sciences B+
(iv)Biological sciences B+

(d)Alternative three
Two principal passes in two principal
passes in Biology and Chemistry and
a subsidiary pass in physics or maths

having any of the qualifications below:
(a)A minimum of C+ in KCSE with C+ in
each of the cluster subjects below:
(i)Physics or maths
(ii)Biology
(iii)English or kiswahili

(b)A level/G.C.E qualifications with two principal
passes in biology and chemistry.In addition,they
should have a subsidiary pass or credit pass at
'O' level in physics and maths or qualifications
as indicated below:
(i)A principal pass in Chemistry and biology
(ii)Subsidiary pass in maths or physics
(iii)A pass in general paper.

- In addition to minimum qualifications,applicants are required to have attained a C+ in chemistry,biology or biological sciences plus a C in maths or physical/physical science or
- Hold a KACE certificate with two principal passes in science subjects or
- Hold a diploma in any science subject with at least a credit pass from a reputable institution or
- Be in possession of a diploma in applied sciences with at least a credit pass in science subjects or
- Any other qualifications recognized by the university senate

(i)A minimum of a B in KCSE with a B in English,chemistry,biology,maths/physics or
(ii)Two principal passes in chemistry,biology and one subsidiary pass in either physics or maths or
(iii)A minimum of a C in KCSE or division II with a C in Biology,Chemistry,Physics/Mathematics and English or
(iv)Hold a KACE certificate with two subsidiaries and one principal pass in Biology,Chemistry,Physics/Mathematics and English or
(v)Be in possession of any biology-related degree from a recognized institution
