A leader is someone to be looked up to, a person of great intelligence, humility, patience and self-control but when all these lack, the gate to all evils is opened. Corruption, ill will, hate and other evil deeds become the order of the day. Trust becomes a long gone story and the involved subjects become mobile in search of greener pastures. New friendships spring but the same trend follows so they don’t last and there comes the rise of an evil generation. In all this, what about our Kenyan youths?

In our beloved country Kenya, corruption is not viewed as a vice anymore, it is a requirement. You wish to win an election then you must have something to scrap the backs of your fellow citizens. You need to pass a certain interview then you must have “something that will make you pass”. Credibility is not an important term anymore in our generation. All the hard times you had in class trying to grasp that mathematics concept is not taken into account anymore. With the growing rise in nepotism, tribalism and corruption, you are no one if you don’t have a person to hold your back in the senior offices.

What is the fate of the outgoing graduate?
The Kenyan youth need jobs not empty promises. The government is really making visible efforts but what happens when the youth fund is released? Does the money find itself sandwiched in the pockets of rich government officials who claim to be the intermediaries between the Kenyan youth and the government? The youths are energetic and able to identify new business opportunity but when this happens there happens to be long and expensive procedures

to make their businesses legal. This disappoints them and they end up giving up in business oriented practices. This leads to increase in crime rate as they run for fast money.

Lack of guidance and the loss of hope among our youths have led to an increase in drug abuse. Believing that alcohol is the remedy for stress is common among the youth. Alcohol is a cause of life destruction. The moment one indulges him/herself in it as most of our youths have done that when everything changes from bad to worse. Alcohol destroys mind cells leading to poor thinking. This poses a danger to the future of our country when energetic and industrious youths are involved. It is therefore the role of the government to ensure proper awareness among the youth and to fight the abuse of drugs to save our youths.

There is a great need to look into the fate of the Kenyan youths. Their ship is drowning and a fast remedy to reverse the situation is required. The government should also ensure that all the services set aside for the youth are not manipulated by other parties.
