Question One carries 30 marks while the rest carry 20 marks each.
1. (a) Explain the four trends or modes in which the historical relationship between religion and science manifests itself. [20 marks]
(b) State and explain the difference between religion and science in terms of methods applied in the study of phenomena. [10 marks]
2. Write notes on the following concepts:-
(i) Non-overlapping Magisteria (NOMA)
(ii) Conflict Theory [20 marks]
3. Explain the theory of relativism indicating its implications for religious doctrines. [20 marks]
4. Critically assess the main arguments presented by the Big Bang theory. [20 marks]

5. “If religious views were found to contradict direct observations about the natural world, then it would be obligatory to re-examine either the interpretation of scientific facts or the understanding of the scriptures (i.e. religion)” St Augustine of Hippo.
Discuss this statement in the light of relationship between religion and science in modern African society. [20 marks]
6. Discuss the Evolution theory in relation to the origins and development of religion. [20 marks]
