Education has become a basic need in the world of today. In every sector, education makes things to be done more efficiently. It enables wealth creation and efficient management of the wealth.
Many of the students learn for the purpose of getting a good job with lots of income to sustain their lives. However, this is not always the case for some. After all the toiling, they end up with technically nothing.
Do they really deserve this? NO! Is there something they are doing wrong? YES! They only want to be employed yet they have the opportunity to employ themselves as well as others.

Admit it. Being employed makes one to be sure to get paid at the end of the month or whatever period that they do pay. Self employment on the other hand requires one to be hard working as well as ensure consistency in what they do. But unlike being employed, self employment has a big room for growth and improvement.

In this era, we see people, and especially the youth, being involved in creative and innovative ideas that makes them smile all the way to the bank. Its not a must for them to have been intensely educated, but it comes from within them and they are not afraid and don't fear any risk to something that may arise. The activities that they are involved in range from bringing innovation to agriculture to more technical stuff like creating never seen before computer programs. It all depends with the area of interest.

Every part of education, from primary school, secondary and finally university education, all enables one to gain skills that may make their future worthy to wait for. Although our system,of education eliminated the most practical subjects in primary school, the likes of art and craft,

home science and music, the subjects that are still there can do a lot in ensuring acquisition of skills for self sustenance.

Much can be dwelt on regarding self employment and its relation to primary and secondary education. In this text however, we are going to dwell on those who have graduated from higher learning institutions but still have not been able to get a job. Okay, we have already admitted, but lets again admit: the increase in population has resulted in the number of available jobs reduce. Despite this, there is still a gap that has not yet been covered, and people haven't recognized it yet. You can. The area one has graduated in offers a lot of opportunity that is mostly recognizable by those who did the learning in that area. For example, a software engineer may see the lack of a software to do a particular thing whereas the same thing is unrecognizable by someone who pursued law.

For self employment, a person who has pursued education may be a personal tutor, a media graduate may design his own magazines, a film graduate become an independent producer and all these and many others may offer their services online and may end up getting big contracts. The idea about being self employed is look at your area of expertise and see what has not yet been done in that area. Also, what has been already done but not that efficiently. You can either design a new thing or improve on the already existing thing. Another tip is that you should not go at it alone. Two heads are definitely better than one. If you combine heads, so to say, you will come up with an even greater idea. Do not be selfish. Do not be afraid of risks. Not everything undertaken would necessarily go on as planned. Do not be afraid of adopting new ideas. Don't be afraid of criticism. Consider the ideas of others, if you see that they are beneficial. Success will then follow. Wait. Wait. And wait. Be patient and success will come by.

The thing with self employment nowadays is the fact that almost anything can be offered on the internet. If you are an engineer, you can offer your services via, say, freelancing sites. If you are a medical practitioner, you can offer online consultations at a small fee. If you are an agriculturalist, say farmer, you can sell your produce online. A writer, you are lucky, you can write online for a pay. I can go on and on but its clear that almost all graduates, no matter what course they did, can make money via the power of the internet.

If you are not that much of a fan of the internet, then try to offer and come up with something new in your area of study and see the benefits that would come with it. It doesn't necessarily have to be something completely new, but intense research can help you bring an idea from another region to suit your region, and it will be new to them. Only that you must ensure that the idea suits the people of your region.

So that said, what if an opportunity present itself in an area that one has not graduated in? Well, just take it. Don't worry about the kind of Kenyan degree, diploma or certificate that you have got. So long as you know you can do it good, then do it. All said, all can be done.
