With many people suffering from and dying of cancer, there are foods that can keep cancer at bay. Foods aren't just a small risk factor for breast or other cancers, they could be the only way to beat the disease, and remember that foods are kinder to your body than drugs.
Tomatoes, broccoli, soybeans, omega-3 (fatty acids found in fish) and garlic are among eleven foods you may want to consider adding to your diet to keep away cancer.
1. CALCIUM.
- Milk is rich in calcium, calcium is associated with reducing colon cancer.
2. DIETARY FIBRE.
- Reduces colon cancer risk.
3. GREEN TEA.
- It is the best food source of catechins, which are more powerful antioxidants than vitamins C and E at arresting oxidative damage to cells.
4. BERRIES.
- A source of vitamins C and fibre and are rich in the phytochemical ellagic acid that has shown the ability to prevent cancers of the skin, aesophagus, bladder, lung and breast.
5. OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS.
- Found in fatty fish, flaxseeds oil, canola oil and walnuts.
- The acids exert protective effects against some common cancers, especially cancers of the breast, colon and prostate.
6. DARK-GREEN, LEAFY VEGETABLES.
- Includes spinach, kale, lettuce and traditional green vegetables. They are excellent sources of fibre, folate and carotenoids, which inhibit the growth of breast, skin, lung and stomach cancer cells.
7. WHOLE GRAINS.
- Contains fibre and antioxidants and other compounds that fight cancer.
8. GARLIC.
- Belongs to the alliums genus, which includes onions, scallions, leeks and chives and which contain compounds for anti-cancer effects.
9. BEANS AND LEGUMES.
- Have ingredients, such as saponins protease inhibitors and phytic acid that prevents various cancer types.
10. GRAPES AND GRAPE JUICE.
- It slows down the growth of cancer cells and inhibits the formation of tumours in lympth, liver, stomach and breast cells.
