The major issues that affect schools in urban areas in Kenya

In Kenya, anyone living in almost any place can get the education that they need. However, they do not all go through the same problems. All students face different problems depending on different factors which include where they attend school, which teachers teach them, what kind of parents they have and even what kind of people the students themselves are.

However, I would like to concentrate more on the location of the school, and specifically on the schools found in urban areas. They face so many problems and below is just but a few of these problems faced by students who attended the schools in urban areas.

1) Noise pollution.
In urban areas, there are so many industries and companies which work hard to produce various goods. There are also so many vehicles around the schools in urban areas. Many of these industries and vehicles produce a lot of noise.

This makes the students in urban areas to concentrate less on their studies because of all the noise in their environment.

2) Traffic jams.
In urban areas, there are so many good roads and also so many people who use cars to travel from place to place. For this reason, the roads in urban areas are often congested in the mornings and evenings.

This makes those students who travel to school by road to get to school when they are already too late.

3) Having too many students.
As we all know, urban areas offer more job opportunities and even better jobs than rural areas. For this reason, urban areas are densely populated. The many businesses in urban areas offering different goods and services to their customers also attract more people to urban areas.

This makes schools in urban areas to also have many students and pupils. Some of these schools have more

than enough students and pupils which makes the sharing of the available resources among the students to be a very difficult thing.

As a result of this, some students in urban areas are forced to learn without any text books. Some of these students in urban areas have never even done an experiment in the labs because the equipment in the labs are not enough for all the students to use during an experiment.

These issues can be solved but only if we are determined enough to solve them. If they are not solved, then they will continue to reduce the performance of students in urban areas.
