Human beings are creatures of habit, and falling into a comfortable routine is almost second nature. When it comes to physical fitness, however the one thing that will give you more mileage for your effort is to take a big step out of your comfort zone, enough to give your body that adrenaline kick and push your level of fitness a bit higher. Here are three ways to boost yourself:

1. Push your limits.
Workout-wise, it is not enough to challenge your physical body only. The workout has to be unpredictable and mentally challenging as well. Try your hand at circuit training, or some kind of an obstacle course of your own creation. You can also try regular exercises like the squat, push up on an unstable surface such as wobble board.

Putting yourself through mentally challenging situations like these will give you a huge adrenaline buzz that will not only take the boredom out of any work out, but will help you cope better with stress anywhere, even in the workplace.

2. Seek out active recreation options.
Watching a movie, reading a book or going out to a restaurant or for some fun are great for winding down after a challenging work week, but stepping things up a bit in this department will give you an edge in your battle against fat.

Consider taking up an active form of creation such as hiking, cycling, soccer, basketball, tennis among other activities that will serve both as a recreational outlet as well as a physical challenge. This will help you create the sort of permanent lifestyle change that will have a long lasting impact on your overall health and how you look.

3. Exercise with a buddy.
Working out with a pal helps distract you from negative cues and keeps you focused on staying accountable and consistent in

your fitness schedule. Look for someone with whom you share common interests and who will help you stay in the straight and narrow by making it harder for you to bail out of that morning walk or evening squash game.

Having a friend as a workout buddy transforms exercise into a social event so you spend less time ruing the fact that you are in the gym at 6 pm on a Friday and more time having fun around people who make you feel better about yourself.
