The world is experiencing considerable progress across economic, technological, and social development. During the past decade, statistics indicate that there has been a rise in global exports, an increase in foreign direct investment, and growth in daily turnover. In the last 40 years, the GDP in most countries has increased ninefold. As the speed of the global economy increases, the global democracy is also on the rise. Democracy is the reason the world community is becoming smaller and more interconnected. Therefore, liberal democracy is the best form of political organisation in terms of its ability to foster development.

Studies and literature reviews indicate that liberal democracy is responsible for opening up of new prospects for democratic development. For instance, liberal democracy in Kenya has led to dictatorial governments, for example the KANU government, legalizing opposition parties and competitive elections. Leaders in liberal democracy have power and authority. They are the heads of both the military and the police. The judiciary ensures implementation of the rule of law. That said, the citizens enjoy both political and legal equality. The state officers in this type of democracy are expected to subject to the law and respect individual liberties. The citizens are given the right to organize, demonstrate, and speak their minds. Liberal democracies allow the minority groups to practice their culture and beliefs without fear of victimization. The executive arm of the government has powers that are limited by state actors. The courts protect the property rights of citizens and corruption is heavily punished.

After the above definition and analysis of liberal democracy, this paper contains a clear conceptual framework for agreeing with the fact that liberal democracy is the best form of political organisation in terms of its ability to foster development in developing countries. Democracy in developing nations enhances their

abilities to grow both economically and socially. Researchers argue that authoritarian rule is important in the early phases of economic growth. However, when income increases and emergence of middle classes, authoritarian rule ceases to be important. Increase in incomes in countries lays the groundwork for democratic transition.
Liberal democracy promotes economic development. Experts argue that there is a positive relationship between development and democracy. The experience in Africa would confirm experts' arguments. Many states in Africa that have adopted democracy have experienced economic prosperity. Additionally, African leaders in liberal democracies have developed anti-poverty action plans.

However, despite many gains that liberal democracy has brought to economies, serious gaps remain. For instance, the gap between the rich and a poor remains high. Despite existence of democracy, the smaller percentage of the world’s population controls a large percentage of the world’s wealth. This is the reason majority of tourists tend to come from rich countries.
Liberal democracy has transformed the concept of governance greatly. Democracy has enabled governance to be more than just government. Governance is presence in day-to-day lives of every citizen. It is manifested in the ways people manage their relationships with other people, just the way big companies use it to manage their activities.

Liberal democracy ensures people in leadership observe human rights and the rule of law. First, the leaders are elected after free, and fair and frequent elections. For this reason, the citizens entrust them to provide good governance. Additionally, democracy ensures the leadership decentralize its authority and resources. This is to give the people a greater role to play in governance. Thus, liberal democracy ensures the leaders provide good governance, transparent and accountable leadership, and citizens playing more significant role in governance.

The civil societies are useful in fostering development. They are responsible for setting the priorities of the most vulnerable in the society. With liberal democracy, civil societies can play their roles effectively. Democracy will allow civil societies expand their choices in the way they making the needs of the most vulnerable people in the society known. This will enable the vulnerable individuals in the society to promote their freedom from poverty, fear, and violence.
