Avoid eating and drinking while operating your laptop. This is because food crumbs that fall on it can attract bugs that can damage the circuitry of your laptop thus reducing its functionality and they can also make it look dirty and unattractive. Drinks can damage the pad and internal microelectronic components or even cause electronic damage.
• Keep your laptop in a dust-free environment and in a clean room.
Dust can affect the performance of your laptop.Use an anti-static cloth to lightly dust your computer casing.Don't use strong solvents or furniture cleaners to clean your laptop as this may cause more harm to it than good.Clean the laptop LCD monitor and keyboard regularly and properly.Always keep your laptop clean to enhance its functionality and also to avoid costly repairs.Do not use a glass cleaner to clean your monitor as many screens have an anti-glare coating that can be damaged by the glass cleaner.Always turn off the laptop and unplug your laptop from the power and then use a soft clean cloth moistened with water to wipe the screen.Blow away dust and other particles from the keyboard.Do not hit the keyboard keys violently when using or cleaning as this may damage your laptop.
• Keep the battery cool
To keep your laptop 'healthy' and properly working always keep it cool and avoid overheating. There are various ways to keep your laptop cool which include, placing it in an elevated position, a slight tilt allows air to flow under the laptop thus keeping it cool.Try

placing it on a cooling pad or mat, this can be purchased together with the laptop or separately. Avoid placing it on a soft surface like on a sofa, carpet or on a pillow rather place it on hard surfaces. Try keeping it in a cool environment like in an air-conditioned room and also you can consider using a heat sink.
• Update your anti-virus software.
Anti-virus software is a program that helps protect your laptop against most viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and other unwanted invaders that can harm it.These viruses and worms perform some malicious acts, such as deleting files, accessing personal data or even using your computer to attack others.Always ensure your laptop is protected by frequently updating the antivirus through subscription while online.
