1. Discuss the national goals for education in Kenya from the national level and from the
individual level. Preview their adequacy. (10 marks)

2. Describe the language policy adopted by Kenya. Explain the rationale for this policy
then critique it. (10 marks)

3. Discuss the objectives of English language teaching in Kenya. (You can base your discussion
on primary or secondary school curriculum) (10 marks)

4. In order for a learner to leave a language classroom with (hopefully) changed identities,
attitudes and beliefs, what kind of resources should such a classroom have? Explain your
points. (10 marks)

5. Should oral skills in English language be taught and tested in Kenyan schools? Give
adequate and plausible reasons for your stand. (10 marks)
