a) Describe the following terms as used in linear regression analysis:

i) A book entitled “Healthy Eating”. It was published in the year 2008. It was written by Mary

the year 2005.The tile of the book is “Case writing Methods”. The publishing firm is
Bass. ( 3 Marks)
c) Outline two factors to be taken into consideration when selecting a research design. (3 Marks)
d) “Literature review is an important consideration in any academic piece of work”. Validate this
statement. (5 Marks)
e) Distinguish between snowball sampling and quota sampling (6 Marks)

a) In a survey to determine the average expenditure of households in Nairobi, a marketing research
student intends to select a simple random sample of households.

c) Write notes on the following:

QUESTION FIVE
a) Outline the steps followed in hypothesis testing (5 Marks)
b) An intelligence test is carried out in a college on 12 students randomly chosen from a BA degree
and they obtain a mean score of 110 points with a standard deviation of 5 points.
A random sample of 12 students from Bsc. Degree scored a mean of 117 points with a standard
deviation of 7 points. Does this suggest a significant difference in student intelligence between
the two degrees? Test at 5% level of significance. (15 Marks)
