Q. 1 Imaginative Composition (Compulsory) (20mks)
Either
(a) Write a story beginning or ending with the following sentence:
ā€œThings were so tough that I decided to take the bull by its horns.
OR
b) Write a story to illustrate the saying:
ā€œDon’t count your chicks before they are hatched.ā€
Q. 2 Drama: Imaginative composition on the compulsory set text. ā€œThe Merchant of Venice
by William Shakespeareā€ (20mks)
ā€œJustice must at all times be seen to be doneā€
Paying close action to what happens in the play ā€œThe Merchant of Veniceā€ Show how true this
is.

a) Short story Half a day and other stories by Macmillan:
With reference to a meeting in the Dark by Ngugi wa Thiong’o, write a composition to show
that John suffers because of his own faults.
Or
b) Drama: John Ruganda-Shreds of Tenderness
Imagine that you are a refugee at a refugee camp. Using information from John Ruganda’s
play, Shreds of Tenderness, write a composition complaining about deplorable conditions at a
refugee camp.
Or
c) The Novel: Velma Pollard: Homestretch.
With close reference to the relationship between the couples. David-Edith and Charley-Myrtle,
write an essay in which you extol the virtues of friendship.
