Q.2.A kg pile driver is raised to a height of 7m and then released on the pile.If it penetrates a distance of 2.5cm,find its acceleration and the force acting on it. (5 marks)

Find:
a)the current that passes through the element.(2 marks)
b)the resistance of the element.(2 marks)

Q.7.Two cells each with an e.m.f of 1.5 V and an internal resistance of 1 ohm are connected in parallel to a 4 resistor.What is the current that flows through the resistor? (5 marks)
Q.8.A man of height 1.8m and whose eye level is 1.6 m above the ground looks at his imape on a vertical mirror. Find the minimum vertical length of the mirror if the man is to see the whole of himself.(5 marks)
Q.9.A hosepipe ejects water at a velocity of 10cm/s through a hole of cross-sectional area 50cm2. If the water strikes a barrier at normal,Calculate the force exerted on the wall. (5 marks)
Q.10.A uniform capillary tube contains air trapped with a mercury thread 20mm long.When placed horizontally,the length of the air column is 30mm. Find the length of the air column when the tube is placed vertically with the open end on the upperside.( 5 marks)
Q.11.An object is placed 20cm from a converging lens of focal length 10cm and an image is formed on a screen on the other side of the lens. When a diverging lens is placed halfway between the converging lens and the image, the screen is moved 10cm backwards for a clear image to be formed
Find:
a)the focal length of the diverging lens.

b)the final magnification of the image. (5 marks)
Q.12.A tube of mass 10g,length 10cm and uniform cross-sectional area of 3m2 is partiall filled with lead shot.The tube floats vertically in water with 5cm of its length submerged. Find the mass of the lead shot.(5 marks)
