• In question 3 choose only one of the optional texts you have prepared on.
• All answers to be written in the answer sheets provided.

ANSWER THREE QUESTIONS ONLY
1. Imaginative composition (compulsory) (20 marks)
Either
a) In between 350 – 450 words, write a composition beginning “My heart beating, I tip toed
towards the window…”
Or
b) In between 350 – 450 words, write a composition to illustrate the saying: A long
journey begins with one step.
2. Novel (Compulsory) (20marks)
Marjorie Oludhe McGoye Coming to Birth.
“It is the societal expectations that force Paulina into promiscuity”. Write a composition to support this statement citing instances from the novel Coming to Birth by Marjorie Oludhe
McGoye.
3. Optional Set texts.
Either
a) The Short Story
Macmillan (Ed.), Half a day and other stories. (20 marks)
Write a composition on injustices against women in the society. Refer to Fat mate contents
“Letter to my sisters”.
Or
b) John Ruganda, Shreds of Tenderness
“Insecurity in the society is well brought out in the play Shreds of Tenderness”. Write a
composition to support this statement using illustrations from the play.
Or
c) The Novel
Velma Pollard, Homestretch
“ East or West home is best” Write a composition to illustrate this statement, drawing your
illustrations from Homestretch.
