INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
_ Answer THREE questions only
_ Question ONE and TWO are COMPULSORY
_ In question three choose only one of the optional texts you have prepared on.
_ Where a candidate presents work in more than one optional text, only the first one to
appear will be marked.
_ Each of your essays must not exceed 450 words
_ All answers to be written in the answer booklet provided.
ANSWER THREE QUESTIONS ONLY
1 IMAGINATIVE COMPOSITION (COMPULSORY)
Either
(a) Write a composition that illustrates the saying.
“Better safe than sorry”
Or
(b) Write a composition on steps that can be taken to improve on good security in the
country.

Write a composition to support the following statement,
“Security forces are not people to run to in times of war”. Draw your illustrations
from shreds of tenderness
Or
(c) The Novel
Homestretch by Velma Polland
With close reference to the novel, explain what makes family life so difficult in
the diaspora
