1. This paper consists of FIVE questions.
2. Answer Question one and any other TWO questions.

Question 1.
a) Explain why operationalization of theoretical concepts is important in economics research and describe the main sources of measurement error.
b) Why is ‘representativeness’ important to quantities research? What are the possible threats to representativeness?
c) A newly established company JAZIRA is seeking to introduce a course that will cover all cadres of staff in the company. You are the consultant hired to oversee the process. Explain how the following methods may be used to pick a sample of 284 respondents from a staff population of 1420.
i) Systematic random sampling
ii) Stratified random sampling
iii) Cluster sampling
iv) Random sampling

Question 2.
Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the following methods with special reference to possible sources of interviewer bias.
