d) Explain how simple hazard map and mass campaign methods can be used to assist communities in reducing disaster risks. (6mks)
e) Describe the personnel training to acquire skills and knowledge are essential in mitigating the impact of disasters. (5mks)
f) Identify and explain three disaster-related activities to which a global information systems (GIS) application is useful. (6mks)

QUESTION 2
Titanic tanks who manufacture large gas guzzling cars, have received a threat to have their business destroyed by an infamous ‘stop man-made climate change’ group after it was revealed in the press that cars sold by titanic tanks produce 12 times as much carbon as an average family saloon car. Titanic tanks are a single building operation where they store all the raw materials that they require and employ some 300 staff. The biggest expense of the company is on the machines which they employ in the production of their cars, indeed 75% of the floor space is occupied by the manufacturing department. They also have an integrated CRM system, supported by a small onsite IT team that handles all sales enquirIes, customer orders, raw material orders, purchasing, involving and so on.
You have been called in to devise a business continuity plan based on the worst case scenario - an attack on the building during office hours.
a) Define the main objective of having a plan. (2mks)
b) If an attack were to occur during office hours what processes would you have that would need to be acted upon immediately? ( 8mks)
c) What processes would you have put in place to ensure that business operations can start up again as soon as possible? (6mks)

Fires can be exacerbated by lighting or deliberate setting of fire by human beings. Lightening is the most significant natural contributor to fires affecting the building environment. Buildings with rooftop storage tanks for flammable liquids are particularly susceptible. Discuss how you will manage fire before it occur with regard to the following:
