a)
Msafiri-Pekee Co Ltd has its head office in Nairobi and other branches based in Kampala and Kinshasa. The company has decided to not only build computer networks in each of the branches, but also to link up the branch networks to form a Wide Area Network (WAN).

Draw a possible general design for such a WAN (11 marks)
ii)
State benefits and challenges associated to such a network. (6 marks)

c)
By using Manchester Coding Scheme, illustrate how 8510 is represented.(4 marks)

corporate world. Explain the benefits and challenges related to this architecture. (10 marks)
b)
The optical fibre technology is currently being over-trusted globally. Discuss. (10 marks)

Question 3
a)
Since the inception of computer networks, a great revolution has occurred in various technologies related to the building of such networks.
i)
State and explain the factors that necessitate changes of computer network technologies. (6 marks)
ii)
Explain the reasons behind the success of Ethernet Technology in its physical implementations. (8 marks)
b)
State and explain the existing ways of transmitting data in a corporate
environment. (6 marks)

Small and Middle-Sized Enterprises face numerous challenges in creating awareness about their products and services to their current and potential customers. Explain how a corporate website can be used as tool to solve such a problem. (12 marks)
