Question 1

You are the secretary of the debating club. You have just held a meeting in which all members except six turned up. Of the six, only four were absent with apologies. The patron also attended. The business of the day included membership fee, discipline of members and a farewell party for the form fours. There were other issues discussed besides these. Give a record of what happened during the meeting. (20mks)

Fill in each of the blank spaces on the passage below with the MOST appropriate word.

Précis writing is a very fine exercise in reading. Most people (1) _______ carelessly and retain only a vague idea of what they have read. You can easily test the (2) _______ of your reading.
