Instructions:
Answer question one and any other two questions.
1. (a) Define organization behavior and show how it differs from human resources management. ( 6 marks)

(b) Frankie is a Bachelor of Commerce student and after graduation, she hopes to be a manager in a corporate organization.
During her first Organization Behavior class, she was told that there were no clear answers when it comes to managing behavior of employees.
Her lecturer discussed some of the emerging challenges and historical background including, Fredrick Taylor’s Scientific Management Theory and Hawthorne Studies, all of which have played a big role in understanding Organization Behavior. She came to school to get answers on how to be an effective manager but the first OB class does not seem to be headed in that direction. To relieve Frankie’s anxiety explain to her:
(i) The emerging challenges which have made it necessary for managers to understand Organizational Behavior.( 14 marks)
(ii) How Taylor’s Scientific Management Theory has contributed to understanding Organizational Behavior. ( 10 marks)

2. (a) Charismatic leadership can be very effective when used ethically.
Discuss this statement in the context of who a charismatic leader is and how such leaders can be ethical or unethical. ( 10 marks)

(b) Using the behavioral approaches, discuss some of the behaviors you would look for in an effective leader. ( 10 marks)


3. (a) Define perception as used in Organizational Behavior. ( 4 marks)

(b) Describe the stages in perceptual process. ( 10 marks)

(c ) Distinguish between fixed and variable ratio of reinforcement. ( 6 marks)



4. (a) Why do people want to manage the impression? ( 6 marks)
(b) Describe strategies which employees can use to manage impression. ( 14 marks)

(c ) Distinguish between fixed and variable ratio of reinforcement. ( 6 marks)


5. (a) Describe Herzberg’s Two Factor Theory and explain its application to management.( 14 marks)

(b) Distinguish between positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement and punishment.( 6 marks)
