SECTION A
QUESTION 1
Global Marine Institute is planning to establish one of its campuses in the Indian Ocean
ostensibly to specialize in marine science. The campus will be located in one large ship
which they have acquired. The ship will be leaving the Old Port in the morning and coming back in the evening because the hostels will be located at the old town. This however has raised a lot of debate among environmental groups in Kenya and is likely to spill over to regional and world environmentalists wanting to intervene. Global Marine has been involved n the conservation of the shark (Papa Shillingi). They have spent a lot of their funds in this activity which has endeared them to some residents at the coast and also to the management of the Mombasa city council.
Required:

What are the external environmental factors that the management of Global Marine institute has to analyze before setting up this campus? (10 marks)

How would environmental factors affect the operations of a business organization? (10 marks)

Why should business organizations be involved in social responsibility? (10 marks)
