Why should the clean technologies be adopted? (2 marks)
(ii)
Briefly examine three main factors namely economics, legislation and community response. (8 marks)

Indicate two incentives and two disincentives for adopting clean technologies? (6 marks)

What is lifecycle assessment of a product? (2 marks)
(ii)
Outline steps necessary into conducting a life cycle assessment of a product. (8 marks)

Explain source waste reduction measures giving examples. (6 marks)

Metal parts are degreased by spraying with solvent. To protect workers health, an air extraction system is installed over the workbenches. This leads to a problem with atmospheric emissions of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCS)

Outline some possible methods of overcoming this problem . (12 marks)

Give the preferred order of priority of the solutions. (8 marks)

Discuss integrated approach to solid waste management, outlining logical actions, minimization of the production of waste, maximization of recycling and reuse, promotion of safe waste collection and disposal. (20 marks)
