How to bring your mind back to school after a long holiday

The schools in Kenya usually break for a holiday at least once every term, a holiday that lasts for up to four weeks or even a whole month. After this long holiday, some people have a very difficult time bringing their minds back to school and continuing with their studies as usual. Some even start missing home on their first day from the long holiday. The following is how you can bring your mind back to school after a long holiday from school.

1) Interact with your school mates.

If the only people that you have talked to since the holiday ended were your parents or other people who are outside the school compound, then it might be very difficult for you to forget the experiences that you have had outside the school during the holiday. Therefore, talk to your friends and other people who are at school.

2) Do some fun things at school.

One of the reasons why your mind keeps thinking about home even after the holiday is long over is because what you do during the holiday might be more exciting than what you do at school. Therefore to avoid thinking too much about your past holiday, try doing some fun things at school during the first few days after the holiday. This will allow your mind to form fresh memories which are fun and exciting about what you have been doing at school. This will make your mind to think more about your school than your holiday and this will then make you more ready for school work.

3) Get rid of some items.

There are some things that constantly remind you of home and the things that you did while you were there. This might include

a key holder that your parents bought for you as a birthday gift during the holiday, some magazine that you bought during the holiday, some food which you carried from home to school and other items which force your mind to think about home and the things that you did or the things that occurred during the holiday. You must throw such things away or keep them in a place where you will never get to see them again until the next time that you go on a holiday. This will allow you to concentrate more on your school work without thinking of the past holiday.

4) Avoid calling your parents and guardians.

Some students miss their parents and other people whom they left at home a lot. They thus look for any kind of a small excuse to make their teachers allow them to make a phone call to someone outside the school. This just ends up making them to continue thinking about those that they left when they entered the school compound. Therefore, avoid making calls to the people who are outside the school compound to avoid thinking about them and the things that you did with them during the holiday.

5) Do a lot of physical school work.

Sometimes when you are listening to the teacher and not doing anything physical, it is very easy for your mind to stray away and start thinking about things which happened during the holiday. It is also easy to think about other things when all you are doing is reading and not doing anything physical. Therefore, to avoid thinking about your holiday, make sure that you do a lot of physical activities both during and even after classes. This means that you should try and answer most of the questions that the teacher asks the class. You should also try and write short notes on what you are reading as you read your notes. This will keep your mind thinking about school work and not about your holiday.

If you do all the above then you might be able to forget about your holiday.
