1. (a) Compose a melody of at least 12 bars including a modulation to the sub-dominant
key. (15 marks)
2. (b) Harmonize the melody in question 1 (a) in four parts. Include the use of dominant
seventh chord (V7) (15 marks)
3. Compose lyrics in English or Kiswahili and set them to music of at least 12 bars.
(20 marks)
4. Discuss ten techniques of composing a melody giving examples of each. (20 marks)
5. Transcribe a melody of any song you know (in a language of your choice) and harmonize
it in four parts. The melody should be at least 24 bars long. (20 marks)
