SECTION A (30 Marks)
1. Ideology, philosophy and objectives of community development programme help in
describing its processes and techniques which make a community development
programme a success. According to Carl Taylor community development has to combine
all the elements of organized activity which are needed to achieve effective cooperation
between organized community groups and organized sources of technical, economic and
local assistance which local groups must receive.
In light of the above statements:-
(a) Explain any four philosophies on which the community development programmes
should be based on. (8 marks)
(b) Analyze the eight processes which any community development programme has
to undergo and show how these processes can be applicable in your community.
(16 marks)
(c) Describe any three strategies used in your church to help the poor (orphans and
windows) (6 marks)
2. (a) Define conflict according to Pederson and Jandt 1996. (2 marks)
(b) Critically analyze conflict as a product of the abuse of power in the community.
(12 marks)
(c) Identify at least three programmes that your church can implement towards
poverty alleviation at the community level. (6 marks)
3. Discuss the following principles of community development
(i) Ecological principles (10 marks)
(ii) Social justice principles (10 marks)
4. “Constituency Development Fund (CDF) was established with an aim of controlling
imbalances
in regional development brought about by partisan politics.” In light of the above
statement: Discuss;
(a) The role of your church in the process of achieving the goal of CDF. (10 marks)
(b) Any two sustainable CDF projects in your community. (10 marks)
5. (a) Development that is economic or material wealth does not necessarily constitute
the “good life”, Discuss (10 marks)
(b) Discuss the importance of Networking in community development. (10 marks)
