Section A

1. Make short notes on the following terms as used in the study of the African Traditional societies.
(a) The ‘Sasa’ and the ‘Zamani’ periods. [5 Marks]

(b) Family morals [5 Marks]

(c) The ordinary spirits [5 Marks]

2. Define ‘Divine Command Theory’ and say why it is the most ideal theory of describing African Morality. [15 Marks]

3. Prior to the coming of the Christian and Islam missionaries in Africa, Africans did not have a concept of morality. Discuss. [20 Marks]

4. Using an African community of your choice, describe how moral offenders were punished and briefly explain the rationale behind the punishment of moral breakers in Africa. [20 Marks]

5. To what extent can an African individual today say “I am because we are and since we are therefore I am”. [20 Marks]
