1. Compare Ibn Khaldum?s and Pitrim Sorokin?s arguments on cyclic theory of
social change. Which of the arguments would you prefer? Why?

2. Define social change.
Discuss FOUR of the major sources of social change. Provide examples of
consequences for each source.

3. What do you understand by resistance and change?
Discuss two organizational and two cultural barriers to social change.

4. Compare persuasive and reeducative strategies for planned social change.
Use any FIVE of the considerations in selecting the strategies and support them
with examples.

5. Drawing on any TWO national development agenda in Kenya, discuss the
relationship between social change and development.
