Answer any THREE Questions.
Give literary illustrations from any literature text.
All responses must be illustrated.

What is style? Explain your defmition highlighting the importance of style in
literature.
2.
What are the constituents of 'content' of a literary piece of art. How do they manifest
themselves in a work of art.
3.
Discuss 'fonn' in relation to literature showing how it helps a reader gamer the
meaning in a literary work.
4.
Characterization can not be divorced from the themes when analysing a text. Do you
agree? Give a detailed response.
5.
Define the term 'foregrounding' showing how it is used in literature.
6.
Give a brief stylistic analysis of the play 'The Successor' by Francis Imbuga. Dwell on
only one main character, one main theme and one main literary device.
7.
Examine the mode/genre as a constituent part of 'Fonn'. Does it help a reader to
understand the text better? Illustrate.
