SECTION I
1.
The notion of salvation runs through the entire Bible, and forms a key element in
the theology of the Old Testament. Explain its meaning and how it was
understood by the ancient Israelites.

Explain why some scholars believe that the God of the Old Testament take sides
with the oppressed.

The term election in the Old Testament is bachar which means ?to chose?
contrary to the English usage ?to elect?. Explain this anomaly, clearly indicating
the nature of the election, its object, grounds, purpose as well as consequences.

SECTION II

Explain the meaning of the term ?covenant? clearly showing the various kinds of
covenants that existed in the old Testament, their nature and consequences of
keeping and breaking them.

?The Messianic hope in the Old Testament is closely linked to the concept of the
Old Testament eschatology.? Explain.

?anonymous servant? and ?servant Israel? and their differences.
