1. a. Using relevant examples, define Organizational Communication, distinguishing it from other contexts of communication (10 marks)
b. Demonstrate why communication is integral to the functioning and success of all organizations, give appropriate examples (15 marks)

2. As a communication officer in one of the organizations in Kenya, you are aware that for communication to be effective, the communicator has to be careful in the choice of channels of communication. Using relevant examples, highlight three key affordances of each of the five channels of communication available to organizations (15 marks)

3. A Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with one of the top parastatals has realised that most of his communication to the lower cadres of staff is usually delayed, lost or distorted. He then seeks your services to improve the flow of communication
a. What advice would you give him? (6 marks)
b. Briefly explain to the CEO three merits of each of the three other patterns of communication that s/he could use (9 marks)

4. A Non-Governmental organization (NGO) that operates internationally is not succeeding in its campaigns to improve certain aspects of life for members of a community in Kenya. Highlight five possible hindrances to the success of the campaigns, give a relevant example for each case and briefly explain how they could be mitigated. (15 marks)

5. You have been appointed to a selection interview panel for a new position in your team.
a. What do you consider as the three main functions of an interview in an organization? (3 marks)
b. Highlight any four interview techniques your team could use for the selection, pointing out one advantage and disadvantage of each (12 marks)

6. What important points should a chairman of a meeting put in mind in order to run a meeting successfully? (15 marks)
