1. Njeri bought p bananas and Atieno bought q bananas. Shariffa bought 2 bananas less than what both Njeri and Atieno had bought. How many bananas did all the three buy?

2. Kurgat has m mangoes, Omollo has two more mangoes than Kurgat. Wanja has five mangoes less than the total number that Kurgat and Omollo have. How many mangoes do they have altogether?

3. Nekesa is x years old now. She is y years older than her son. Write an expression to show the sum of their ages in 10 years time.

4. Otieno had Sh. 4 more than Njuguna. Njuguna had Sh. Y and Juma had one third of what Otieno had. They had a total of Sh. 100. Write an equation to represent this information.

5. In an examination, Kirui scored 5 marks in English, r marks in Mathematics and 7 marks less in Science than in Mathematics. Write an equation showing his total sum in the three subjects.

6. The sum of Ali's and Juma's ages 10 years from now will be 53. What is the sum of their ages now?

7. For every orange Kiptoo gets, Onyango gets twice as many while Dinka gets four less than Onyango. Ninety six oranges were given to them. How many did Dinka get?

8. Jamic bought x mangoes and Musa bought y mangoes. Amina bought three more mangoes than Jamic. How many mangoes did the three buy altogether?

9. The cost of a Social Studies book was Sh. x while that of Kiswahili was Sh. 5 less. A Mathematics book cost a quarter of the total cost of Social Studies and Kiswahili books. Laniera spent Sh. 300 to buy the three books. Write an equation representing the above information.

10. Mumo is two year older than Temu and three years younger than Ndeti. The sum of their ages is 64 years. If Mumo's age is m, write an equation that could be used to find Mumo's age.
