What four roles does a teacher play in a teaching situation? [4 marks]
b)
Outline the importance of the scheme of work to the teacher. [5 marks]
c)
Outline any five ways you would use to enhance the effectiveness of teaching. [5 marks]
d)
i)
List and explain any four individual differences which are likely to exist in a class. [6 marks]
ii)
Identify any four factors that are likely to interfere with the teacher’s effort to provide for individual differences in class. [4 marks]
e)
In your own opinion how do instructional objectives help a class teacher in teaching effectively? [6 marks]

a)
Define the term system and explain four general characteristics of a system with reference to teaching/ learning. [10 marks]
b)
State and explain four advantages of applying systems approach in teaching a special secondary school subject. [10 marks]

3.
a)
Identify one teaching method which falls under heuristic approach and another that falls under expository. For each of them:-
i)
Explain the key strength and weaknesses
ii)
Explain how you could overcome the weaknesses for each of the methods.

b)
List any four considerations you would take is selecting the most appropriate method for teaching a specific topic. [4 marks]

4.

Define the term motivation and explain the two types of motivation with reference to teaching
/learning. [4 marks]

Explain the importance of motivation in the teaching learning process. [8 marks]

Briefly discuss any two teacher – centered weaknesses that can act as barriers to effective classroom communication and suggest an appropriate remedy for each of the stated weaknesses. [ 8 marks]

Distinguish between an achievement test and an evaluation test. [4 marks]

Briefly discuss, giving examples in each case, any four types of objective tests. [12 marks]
c)
Outline the main advantages of using essay type testing over objective type. [4 marks]
