Question One is compulsory (30marks) and answer any two questions from the remaining
choices.

1.
a)
Is there any evidence to show that geography is indeed a “mother of all subjects” taught in schools? Give examples to support your assertion? [10 marks]
b)
Discuss with relevant examples the role research will play in the teaching of geography in schools today and the likely problem one can experience when doing research. [10marks]
c)
Geography is said to be humanity with no value as compared to “real” sciences. Given your understanding of the discipline, develop some arguments for and against the teaching of geography in schools. [10marks]

2.
As a geography teacher, discuss with relevant examples how one can teach the discipline to give it a scientific face as opposed to the current practices in schools. [20marks]

3.
a)
Identify three categories of resources used for the teaching of geography in schools and give 3 examples of each. [6marks]
b)
Pick at least one resource from each of the categories and discuss how it can be used in the classroom for effective teaching and learning. [9marks]
c)
How can the use of technology improve the teaching and learning of students in this era where the cost of some resources is high? [5marks] [20marks]

Discuss briefly what you understand by the following:

d) How do you think these documents are useful to a classroom teacher? [8marks]
