As a topic “Alkanes” is commonly taught in high schools. A student you are teaching asked, “Sir/Madam what is the general formula of alkanes?” What answer would you give?
(ii)

(b)
(i)
Concept formation is recommended in the teaching and learning of Chemistry. Using the subject “Reactions of Halogens and Alkenes” show how TWO techniques illustrate concept formation.
(ii)
In what ways does repletion illustrate concept formation? Explain using group properties of families in the periodic table.

(i)
What would you tell a teacher who uses a water-type fire extinguisher on electronic fires.
(ii)

Ammonia is a pyramidal structure compound. Please draw the structure of ammonium molecule.
(b)
Why is the ammonium molecule generally reactive going by your structure?
(c)
As you would to a high school class write out a complete symbol equation of the reaction between hydrogen chloride and ammonia.

The chemistry of sulphur is taught at form one.
(i)
Write the symbol equation of the burning of sulphur in air.
(ii)
Write out the symbol equation of the product of (i) above with water.
