Women, like colonized subjects, have been relegated to the position of other, colonized by various forms of patriarchal domination. They thus share with colonized races culture an intimate experience of the politics of oppression?. Using examples from Tewfik Al Hakim?s Fate of a cockroach, discuss this statement showing how women have tried to fight for their freedom.

b) Fate of a cockroach is a satirical indictment of the entire Arab communitys refusal to accept social change. Discuss this statement in relation to the treatment of female characters in the play.
