1. In a week, a farmer collected an average of 6 paw paws from every tree in his garden. In four weeks time the farmer had collected 288 paw paws. How many paw paw trees are there in the garden?

2. A class has 30 children. From Monday to Friday each child brought three bottle tops per day. At the end of the week, the teacher asked the children to arrange the bottle tops in groups of ten. How many groups of ten did they make altogether?

3. A group of children in a science class were examining the features of a creature. They found out that the head was 10 cm long and the tail was as long as the head plus half the body. How long was the creature if the body was 40 cm long?

4. One thousand and eight people were to be taken to a meeting. There were only three buses available to the people. Each bus could carry a maximum of fifty six people. How many trips would each bus make if all the buses were travelling together?

5. Njeri bought onions, tomatoes and cabbages for sh. 44. The cost of onions and tomatoes was sh. 32. The cost of tomatoes and cabbages was sh. 26. What was the cost of tomatoes?

6. Three craftsmen and four apprentices received a wage totalling sh. 270 per day. If a craftsman earns sh. 250 in five days, how much does an apprentice earn in one day?

7. A mini-bus carried 25 paying passengers from of town to another. From the fare collected, the conductor paid sh. 250 for diesel, sh. 10 to the toll station, and sh. 40 for lunch. If the conductor had sh. 1200 remaining at the end of the journey, what was the fare per passenger?

8. In an athletics meeting, children were five times as many as women. There were 2800 more children than there were men. If there were 2400 women in the meeting, how many people were there altogether?

9. A company employs 20 grade I, 100 grade II and 200 grade III workers. Each grade I worker earns sh. 2400 per month and each grade III earns sh. 1200 per month. The company spends sh. 468,000 per month for paying all the workers. How much does a grade II earn per month?

10. In a kiosk, a pen costs twice as much as a pencil and an exercise book costs three times as much as the pen. Amina bought 2 pens for sh. 4. She also bought 2 pencils and 3 exercise books. How much did she pay altogether?

11. At a transport meeting the number of women was 100. The number of boys was three times that of women and 80 more than that of men. The number of girls was 20 more than that of men. What was the total number of people at the meeting?

12. One bus can carry 64 passengers. In one year the bus makes a total of 264 trips between Nairobi and Kisumu. How many passengers are transported by the bus between Nairobi and Kisumu in one year?

13. Four numbers are given as follows:
557231, 535721, 571351, 523571

By how much is the largest number more than the smallest number?

14. The number of children in a town is twice that of women. There are 320 more women than men. If there are 4360 children, how many men are there in the town?

15. One hundred and sixty crates of loaves of bread were delivered for a party. Each crate contained 20 loaves of bread. Each loaf of bread was divided into 5 pieces. If loaves of bread in 59 crates remained, how many loaves of bread were taken?
