Your client, Mr. Matheaus wants desperately to loose 9 Kg (20lb) before he marries in a months time. He purchased a month’s worth of liquid protein drink and multivitamins to take daily. He seems adamant about not eating any starches or sweets. Based on your reading of this topic, how would you explain to him the effects of low- carbohydrate diet on carbohydrate functions so that he will know why carbohydrates are important even in a weight-loss program? (25 marks)

Explain why fluid balance is vital during exercise periods? How is water and electrolyte balance achieved? (15 marks)

Describe high-risk stress conditions that may occur throughout the life-cycle, giving approaches to planning nutrition and health care. Give special attention to the problem of poverty. (15 marks)
