PROVIDED (30 marks)

Describe five (5) ways in which a designer can manipulate fitting darts during flat pattern designing. [5 marks]
2.
Outline five (5) rules you would observe when manipulating back darts. [5 marks]
3.
Using diagrams, illustrate how to shape the wide ends of the following types of darts;
i)
Vertical darts. [5 marks]
ii)
Horizontal darts. [5 marks]
4.
Using scale slopers , illustrate how to develop pattern pieces for the following design using the flat Pattern Design Method. [10 marks]

Section B. Answer ONLY ONE question in section B using the answer booklet.

Using the back trouser slopers to illustrate your answer, indicate the correct length of the following pants on a single trouser sketch. [4 marks]
b)
Jamaica Hot pants Bermuda Shorts

i)
Define a culotte. [2 marks]
ii)
Using the ¼ scale trouser block (front) , show how you would design patterns for flared culottes using the flat pattern design method. [14 marks]
6.
Using clean diagrams and ¼ scale slopers for the bodice and skirt fronts, develop patterns for the design drawn. [20 marks]
