Answer all questions in section A and one question from section B

SECTION A
1.
Compare and Evaluate the following approaches to leisure and recreation
i)
‘Leisure is an activity’ and ‘leisure is a way of life’ [5marks]
ii)
‘Recreation is a leisure time activity’ and ‘Recreation is a need serving experience’. [5marks]
2.
Explain 5 benefits and leisure and recreation activities to the individual and society. [10marks}
3.
Emerging Technological advances have encouraged creativity and given entrepreneurs opportunities to come up with recreational activities even where the natural environment is not conducive. Explain 5 recreational activities that can be incorporated in a town hotel by embracing emerging technology. [10marks]
4.
Discuss any five (5) psychological categories of leisure and recreation programs that can be incorporated in hospitality facility. Name one activity in each category. [10marks]
5.
Evaluate the Behaviourist Management Movement Theory with reference to a leisure and recreation facility. [10 marks]

SECTION B
7.
Manzi Beach Hotel is a 150 bed roomed beach hotel, situated in Ukunda. The hotel has been experiencing low business even during the peak seasons at the coast. You have been hires as a hotel General Manager. Discuss 5 different strategies that can be adopted to increase business to the hotel that has been offering only food, drink and accommodation. [20marks]
8.
A Non-Governmental Organization with a workforce of 1000 pax and 2000 dependants plans to host its annual sports family day at their sports complex where you are employed as a catering manager. Discuss activities that can be incorporated and the stages that you will go through in the preparation for the event. [20marks]
