INSTRUCTIONS: Answer Question ONE and any other TWO.

(a)
Among the many natural resources found within the borders of the three East African countries, identify one and discuss how it could benefit from a regional environmental treaty. (18 marks)
(b)
Develop a detailed protocol for the operations of the treat proposed in 1a above. (12 marks)
2.
Migingo Island has taken a centre stage in an economic conflict between Kenya and Uganda. Discuss what proposals you could make to end this bilateral conflict that threatens socio-economic and environmental well-being of the two regional states. (20 marks)
3.
While “tembea” is a popular fishing method commonly practiced in Kenya but prohibited in both Tanzania and Uganda as reckless, discuss what could be done to have it banned in Kenya as well. (20 marks)
4.
Tanzania had proposed an industrial project near Lake Natron while Kenya has opposed the same project. Discuss why Kenya is opposed to such a project and what could be done to avoid such conflicts in the future. (20 marks)
5.
There are many regimes within the UN system. Identify one that is meant to benefit the African States and discuss its status with regard to implementation. (20 marks)
