1. a) Explain the meaning of the term community development and with examples; briefly explain any four characteristics of a community. (15 marks)
b) Using appropriate examples, discuss the principles of community development (10 marks)
2. Community development is achievable with the full participation of all stakeholders. Identify and explain the role of the community and other agencies in bringing about development at community level. (15 marks)
3. With the use of relevant examples, explain ways in which communities participate in community development. (15 marks)
4. Change agents are instrumental in facilitating community development; however, their work is hampered by several challenges. Using suitable examples, discuss some of the challenges facing change agents and propose ways in which can be used to address such challenges. (15 marks)
5. Identify and describe various methods of identifying community leaders and with examples, discuss the role of leaders in community development. (15 marks)
6. Discuss the various ways in which groups contribute to community development and propose ways of improving their capacities. (15 marks)
7. Non-governmental organizations are major players in community development, yet they also bring about the ‘Donor Syndrome’ within communities. Discuss. (15 marks)
