QUESTION ONE
The National Campaign Against Drugs Authority (NACADA) recognizes that drug and substance abuse is a global threat that causes serious ramifications on people’s health, security, economic and cultural welfare. Based on this, NACADA has contracted you to undertake a research on the rising state of drug abuse in universities in Kenya. Guided by the following questions, give a proposal that you would prepare examining how you would execute the project. The proposal should address the following issues
a) Brief background of the problem. (3 marks)
b) Formulate three objectives of the study. (3 )
c) Formulate one null and one alternative hypothesis and outline two roles played by hypothesis in research. (4 marks)
d) Scope of the study. (2 marks)
e) Limitation of the study. (2 marks)
f) A sampling design for the study and explain two factors you would consider in selecting the sampling design for the study. (6marks)
g) Prepare a short questionnaire that could be used to collect data for the study. The questionnaire should have both open ended and close ended questions. (4 marks)
h) Discuss how you can increase reliability of your research instrument. (2marks)
i) Indicate how you can acknowledge a book written by two authors at the beginning of a paragraph and how to cite a book you have used in literature review in the reference section. (4marks)
